Abstract on CIDI’s activities in Karamoja region:

Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) in partnership with Danish People’s Aid (DPA) received funding from the Danish Emergency Relief Fund in response to the alert on the food crisis in Karamoja during the year August 2017 to June 2018.The aim of the project is to contribute to improved food and nutrition security among extremely vulnerable house holds in Napak and Nakapiripirit Districts. The objective is to support and meet food assistance needs of 6,000 EVI from 1000 households and strengthen their capacity to participate and voice out issues that affect them.

During project implementation, we used the following strategies: Capacity building, provision of food and dialoging. The project managed to give out 324,000Kgs of beans, 64800Kgs of beans and 16,200 Litres of cooking oil. The project has impacted on the communities in the following ways. Enhanced capacity of the beneficiaries to voice out and advocate for issues affecting their rights. Improved food and nutrition security among the 6,000 project beneficiaries. All these interventions were carried out in line with the Core Humanitarian Standards.
